New Management Board for 2010 Onwards
As you are more than likely aware, last week I announced the intention of the existing WCL Management Board, including myself, to step down at this years AGM. At the time of the announcement I asked for those interested in taking a role in the management of the WCL to come forward. In no small part thanks to the tireless efforts of Paul Berry in personally writing to the officials of all 37 clubs, an impressive number of people have come forward to express an interest. This being the case, and with a very short length of time before the AGM, we need to move things on to facilitate as smooth a process as possible and for any prospective Board Member to make plans, form committees and put the case for their election to the clubs.
Currently we have the following nominations;
Chairman – Zai Ali (St Chads)
Head of Senior Cricket & Board Member – Paul Berry (St Chads)
Head of Junior Cricket & Board Member – Tom Kilby (TABS)
Head of Discipline & Board Member – Tim Grogan (ACO)
Board Member – Steve Waller (Scholes)
Board Member – Tom Martin (Amaranth)
In order to move this forward I now need to close nominations on Friday 30th July. Following that it is my intention to meet with all the nominees on Monday 3rd August to agree the way forward. This is with the intention that a new Management Board can present their plans to the clubs at the Pre AGM and for the clubs to vote on them a week later at the AGM. Any further nominations should be made to Paul Berry as soon as possible.
To be clear, a further group has come forward to volunteer their services within the committee structure. This is an area where we will still be looking for more support from those who wish to contribute but do not want to be part of the Management Board. Anyone else willing to help should contact Paul Berry also.
I would like to extend my thanks to all those who have come forward already and I would encourage anyone else considering offering their services to get in touch. I am encouraged that we can facilitate a smooth and professional transition to the new Management Board in October. Until then I would like to thank my colleagues on the existing Management Board for their hard work for the last 3 years and for their support in completing the task over the remaining few months.
