OBITUARY - Roland Fothergill

20th April 2010

The League Management Board heard with deep regret of the death of Roland Fothergill on Friday 16th April 2010.

Roland was a much respected cricketer with Walton Cricket Club during the 1960's and 70's. His exceptional ability as a leg spin bowler brought him a great many wickets during that period, and with 71 victims at an average of 5.68 he won the Jack Hopps Bowling Trophy in 1963. He was also a member of the Walton 2nd XI wich won back to back Championships in 1977 and 1978.

At the end of his playing career Roland remained a valued member at Walton and was a regular feature of the new clubhouse, serving behind the bar on match days.

We send our sincere sympathy to his widow Audrey and son Alan.
