League Communication: ECB latest guidelines regarding Juniors playing in open age cricket.
Clubs are advised of additions to the guidelines that were highlighted in the recent YCB newsletter and the recent ECB guidelines relating to juniors playing in open age cricket.
The full text is available on the ECB junior cricket site. Below we print the major points taken form the full document:
Junior Cricket 'Age Groups' are set by the age of the player on the 31st August preceding the season of play.
Under 12 age group players and younger should not play in open age cricket. This is also a WCL rule.
Under 13 age group players can play in open age group competitive cricket if considered by a class 11 coach or above that it is appropriate for their development and have written consent from their parent/guardian.
In the event of any doubt or query regarding juniors playing in open age matches clubs should contact any junior committee member ( details on the WCL website) or Chris Burke direct.
