St Chads Broomfield CC V Wetherby CC

For a change the first league match of the season for the Under 13s took place on a well lit evening with a ground not festooned with ducks but festooned by sunlight and trees in blossom!

Wetherby won the toss and elected to bat. The scoreboard was ticking over nicely with the openers taking runs at over 5 an over,44-0 at the half way stage . In over 9 new bowler Fogarty beat the defence of Myers to get him lbw for 7 (47-1). The batters started to take more chances and this resulted in the run out of Captain Lax for 9 (65-2) after some good fielding work by his opposite number Barker.
In the next over disaster for Wetherby as their other opener Walker, who had batted well for his 27 was bowled by Barker (66-3). With few overs left the remaining Batsmen chased runs and wickets fell to leave a final score for Wetherby of 82 for 7 off 16 overs. Barker starred with the ball for Chads 3-0-11-3.
Barker and Mitchell opened the innings for Chads – and despite some very good fielding from Wetherby they took the score to 61 in the 10th over before Barker was bowled by Harland for 24. Harland gained another wicket in the same over (Ali,0) to leave Chads on 61-2 after 10. Mitchell retired (30no) and Fogarty(8) and Sikorski(0) steered Chads home in the gathering dark in the 15th over.
A good match played in good spirit- hopefully, more of these if the weather permits.

Under13s ... News

Barwick Under 13s have withdrawn from the Wetherby League Under 13s. As no matches have been played no points will be conceded and the fixtures that should have been played against Barwick will become a BYE.
